I did have a lot of kids take the mickey in my last school - I don't think my fur helped with that, but I'm hoping that Hogwarts might have some more accepting students that I can make friends with.

I spend the summers with my Uncle, watching him create potions and baying at the moon together of an evening. He bought me my pet owl, as I couldn't possible have a cat, and I've been known to chase rats on a full moon - an owl was definitely the safest pet to pick!"

Bio: Serafina is an only child born to parents that both have magical blood in them but her father was a muggleborn and her mother a pureblood. She is a bit on the shy side but slowly getting used to others around her. She will speak up if it is something she really believes in but she prefers to keep her company to her pet cat Nala. Only her close friends call her by the nickname of Sera

Bio: Magnus never knew his real parents. He lived in a Muggle orphanage until he was nine. Then the accident happened and he woke in Saint Mungo's. No one really knew what to do with the boy and he lived in the hospital for a year. The problem was, he surely couldn't be placed back in a Muggle orphanage but by chance the Lees happened to be visiting a relation and heard of the child. A magical boy who was now a werewolf. Bartleby and Stella Lee--pure-bloods, adopted him. The Lees didn't seem to care that he was a werewolf.
Magnus explored, caused mayhem and generally did whatever suited himself. The Lees encouraged him to explore his new magical world. The day his letter arrived they bought him a magical cat whom he called Kippers.

Bio: Rowan pretty much spent a mundane life as the only child of busy parents who mostly left her to her own devices. She was a star at entertaining herself, and didn't realize that being able to animate her stuffed animals for a tea party and clean up her room by waving a toy drumstick was not average, or even normal. Things came to a head when she levitated a whole shelf of her favorite aunt's bric-a-brac in front of one of those dreadful "ladies' tea clubs."

Since she did this right after putting a toad in a mean girl's lunch, and the girl's mother was in the room, her parents were forced to believe their daughter wasn't another Muggle as they were, but a budding witch. They consulted a neighbor rumored to be a squib and, while nothing was said then, a very worried owl arrived soon after, murmured something about oversight, and being months late, and dropped an invitation to Hogwarts.

So, here Rowan is, rushed through a visit to Diagon Alley, having some her father's retirement fund converted to Galleons for "incidentals," and sufficiently behind enough to keep her scrambling to catch up at least until Christmas. Thank heavens she has Drifter with her to keep her spirits up!

Bio: Originally from the western United States. Samantha's parents, Nathan and Maggie Grant, are both Pure-bloods but her mother is virtually a squib who can only make potions. Affectionately known as Magpie, Samantha's mother taught her that magic isn't what defines a person, and muggles aren't really all that different from wizards. Growing up in the wilds of the eastern Sierra Nevada, Samantha, (who prefers to be called Sam) had a cave of goblins and an elderly muggle prospector as her closest neighbors. In fact her first magic was a levitation spell to get the Gold hunting muggle's panicked burro down from the tree branches where angry goblins had hoisted it. Sam's father Nathan is a descendant of Matthew Grant of N. England who fled west after using a confundus spell to get acquitted of witchcraft in 1649. All of the Grant males were parselmouths, and gifted at languages both human and non-human. Nathan originally worked for the Wizarding Bank of the West. His ability to speak the Goblin language (Goblins hate the term Gobbledygook) got him transferred to the British Isles, and helped re-ingratiate the wizard bankers with the goblins of Gringotts after the "Dark Wizard Incident". Sam is the first girl of the Grant line able to speak with snakes, and her king snake Chua is her best friend.

Bio: Finnlay grew up between the Magical and Muggle worlds. His childhood home sits on the outskirts of a small Muggle town, where his family owns a smallish farm . The family business of farming has gained some local notoriety due to the quantity and quality of its crops. However, this is chalked up to extremely green thumbs and excellent farming practices.

Finnlay has dark blond hair, brown eyes, and is small for his size. This may be problematic for a Muggle child growing up on a farm, but Finnlay has become adept in handy charms like levitation, growth, sunlight, water, etc. When not magically tending the fields or doing chores, Finnlay spends his time reading Muggle and wizarding books.

Finnlay is entering his first year at Hogwarts, which he is very excited about. Formal magical training is something he has been looking forward to for some time -- especially charms and herbology classes.

It was accidental magic that killed him. He was fourteen, yelling at his father in the kitchen. He didn't want to be responsible for a family he didn't create; he didn't want to be the parent because his father couldn't handle the task. It was one of many fights they'd had; but this one had gotten too heated. He was chopping food and crying, and something broke in him. He didn't remember dying. One moment, he was yelling, then the next, a white flash blinded the room. The knife slipped, and he was thrown into an "in-between." There, he had to make a choice that would haunt him forever: leave his family or move on. It wasn't too difficult of a decision to make; he couldn't leave with the way things were. He needed to tell everyone he loved them-- that everything would be okay. So he stayed as a ghost, like his father.

Roman's death occurred two years ago; he's still rather touchy about it.

He had died when her mother was very young, however, and most of what she heard about him had been rumors. Harper is currently an only child, though as of her first day at Hogwarts, her parents are expecting their second child. As excited as she is to be starting at Hogwarts, she's also a little apprehensive on what being away most of the year will mean for her and her family.

Emmy had always been animal crazy, and the feeling only intensified when she arrived at Hogwarts to find a whole array of magical creatures waiting for her to discover. She wants to be a Magizoologist when she graduates from Hogwarts, though she's not sure if she'd like to work for the Regulation of Magical Creatures department at the Ministry or if she'd prefer to conduct her own independent research.

Emmy is a very friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic girl, who loves to talk and make friends, but also loves to have quiet sometimes so she can just curl up and read. She almost always has one of her pets or some other creature nearby, frequently sneaking creatures from outside into the dorms (and sometimes getting into trouble for it).

Bio: Ceilidh is Irish American - born in Ireland, but was raised mostly in South Carolina. She was homeschooled by her squib maternal grandmother - so while she is honestly very bright when it comes to abstract book learning, her application leaves much to be desired. It was only until this past year (she's Year 6) that what is remaining of her family has jumped across the Atlantic and settled back into their ancestral(ish) Irish home. Ceilidh is unsure of herself, now that she's been thrown into Hogwarts. Everything is much different than back home - Charleston.

Family is very important to her. She doesn't feel like she let down her family by being a Hufflepuff - the Sorting Hat had quite a few things to say about her. (That she rather cherishes keeping a secret!) While she's intimidated, she's looking forward to making friends and experiencing the Hogwarts. Oh. And doing magic, finally.

When she was around five years old her mother and father began arguing about things that didn't really make sense at the time. Throwing around the terms like 'Muggle' and something about owls and letters. She didn't understand any of it and chose to ignore it for the most part. A week after her seventh birthday one of their arguments got so heated that when her mother's tone hit a high octave she swore she saw a flash of light that shook the house... like lightning. Afterwards the two began to drift a part, before her finally mentioned something about paper and Muggle laws being ridiculous. Another year went by before her father finally won custody of her in the divorce.

When she turned nine, they moved out to England where her father was promoted in his job... whatever it was. He seemed more at ease, but sad. He would occasionally look at her as if he were looking at her mother. A week after her birthday he brought home a woman, one who reminded her of a barbie doll. She had bright pink lips and enough eyeshadow that she could've doubled as a clown. Her skin was almost plastic is was so flawless but what she remembered most was her platinum blonde curls that were so stiff they didn't move. She remembered that because she accidentally set those perfect curls on fire when her father told her that they were getting engaged that year. Elizabeth swore it was because of all the hairspray, but truth be told she didn't understand it.

On her eleventh birthday a knock came at the door. It was short and not too hard but not too soft, just like her birth mother's trademark. Three strikes exactly. Each sending a chill down her spine. When Elizabeth opened the door she saw her mother standing in the doorframe, a brown owl perched on her forearm with a letter in it's beak. Her smile lit up the room like she had remembered when she was young. She would forever hold tight to that memory because, that was the day she was got her letter from Hogwarts.
